It's That Time Again

Yes, I know that my last posting was about some little things that I wanted to remember, but I am thinking that I want to make it a weekly thing! Wadda ya say? I am, however, hoping that most of the time there will be a couple other posts in between them each week. I am bound and determined to blog more often! I have found that it is such a good outlet for me and I love it. So, once again, here are some little things that have happened this week which I do not want to take for granted:

The Little Things:

-- Getting to go to the Conference Center with my mom for the Relief Society broadcast. {It was spectacular! Maybe I should call these posts forget-me-not's..ha.}

-- My visiting teachers randomly showing up 20 minutes ago and making my night! I haven't been visited in almost 2 years.

-- Waking up this morning to a whispering voice saying "I am looking for a princess.. Where is my princess? .. There she is.." followed by a cute little peck on the cheek. Aw shucks I'm a lucky gal.

-- Playing Battleship on Doug's Iphone. Gotta love the classics!

-- The fact that my old friend, Li Li, ran into Doug on campus today. She then showed up 10 minutes later at my new job to wish me well. I sure miss her, she is great.

-- The lady who is training me is so charismatic and has is from Australia. Love. It.

-- I paid off my car this week! {Okay, that's kind of a big thing.. but hey!}

-- Hanging out with my mom all day on Saturday, as mentioned. It was so great!

-- Doing sealings in the temple with Doug. I love how happy I am there. 

 -- Seeing our family from Japan for a month! It was sooo good to hang out with them!

-- Playing the game Smurf with other couples in our ward on Sunday. Hilarious!

-- Have you seen the fall leaves in Logan and Sardine Canyon?! My insides jump for joy whenever I see a new spot of bright red.

-- Puma's little face. {I know some people will think I am a weirdy, but man-oh-man it melts my heart.}

-- The tender mercies I see from Heavenly Father. At this point in my life, it would be my job and the people I am working with. They are all so nice!

It feels so good to sit and think of these! What are some little things that any of you want to remember?

It's The Little Things

Recently I have been doing a lot of thinking about a couple of things; 1. Being better at remembering the small moments that can have a lasting impression {if remembered) and 2. Figuring our my own personal style. Stumbling upon The Daybook Blog is my main inspiration for having these things on my mind. The blog is about a girl named Sydney's quest to find her own style. Though I would personally probably only be able to pull off about half of her outfits, I love that she isn't afraid to be herself. Plus, I think she is a hoot and she is fabulous at writing. You should check out her blog.

With that background, I thought I would start today and make a list of some "little things" that I want to remember. I believe this will also help me to be more attentive during life and not let precious moments slip by without any notice. Because my goodness I have a lot to be grateful for.

The Little Things:

-- Doug snuggling up and holding me before I fall asleep to chase away any bad dreams that may dare come near me {I have been having a bit of a bout with nightmares}

--Doug buying Children's Songbook songs {sung all peaceful and quiet} to play for me while I fall asleep because of said nightmares

-- Feeling so giddy when I got my Clinique gift yesterday. Seriously. I was smiling from ear to ear.

-- Getting to see all of my in-laws and nieces/nephews within a month

-- Doug putting up with me while I pretend to talk like a punk at night {what, it's funny and fun. try it.}

-- The way Puma pushes my computer out of the way just to snuggle up on my lap and get all lovey-dovey

-- Playing Donkey Kong on the Wii with Doug and getting waaayyyyyy into it

-- The fact that Doug and I can't wait for Psych to start again, it's fun to anticipate together

-- My mom being so willing to always listen to my silly worries when Doug isn't home to vent to

-- The crisp air in the mornings

-- When I call Doug in his lab and he answers by saying "Hello my beautiful wife.." 

-- The lady who interviewed me and hired me always saying "This is going to be so fun" and "Bye hun"

--Puma snuggling up at my feet each night

-- When Doug talks in his sleep {hehe}

Hopefully this will help me to be more aware of the little things happening around me on a daily basis. You should try making this list too, it helps you think of things taken for granted!

Breathtaking

For Labor Day Doug and I wanted to go out and do something outdoors. We weren't able to go camping with my family that weekend, so we thought a hike would be nice. Doug raved about the hike to Naomi Peak up Logan Canyon so we thought we would give it a go. I prepared Doug and told him that I hadn't been hiking in a while, so I would gladly be taking all of the little breaks that I needed. Heh heh. And oh how I ended up needing them!

It was the perfect day to go hiking. Cloud coverage, a cool breeze, and oh-so-many beautiful wildflowers. The hike itself isn't an easy one, it takes you up to almost 10,000 ft. Naomi Peak is the highest peak in the Bear River Range. We were taken aback at how pretty the mountains and flowers were. The breathtaking views were worth any amount of soreness that came in the following days. Doug and I made it to the top and whipped out our lunch that we had brought along. It was so peaceful at the top of the peak. It was only Doug and I up there for the majority of our lunch.

On our way back down the mountain we ran into a man who asked us if he could ask us a few questions about our hike that day. We happily accepted {feeling so important} and shared some of our thoughts about our hike. He then told us he worked for the Herald Journal and the article he was writing on the hike to Naomi Peak would come out the following Saturday. As we finished up our conversation, the woman he was with told us she was going to take a picture of us as we walked away. We didn't mind, we figured it would be a tucked away article in the Outdoors section of the newspaper. However, as we were going to get a newspaper to search through it for the article the following Saturday, we received some texts saying that we were on the front page of the Herald Journal. Serious? Lo and behold there we were with a quote from Doug plastered across the front. The article made us sound like we were avid hikers. We giggled and grabbed copies for our families. Who knew?

If anyone is in the Logan or Bear Lake area and needs a good hike, we would highly recommend this one. It's worth it!

We Just Can't Get Enough

No, really though. We found this show and immediately got addicted! We have loved catching up on all of the seasons together. Now we just can't wait until October 12th when the new season starts! Gotta love lots of date nights with the hubster.

It has been so great that Doug and I found a show that we both love equally. Let's just say a lot of our days now consist of quotes from this show. {smiles}

East Coast Adventure!

I know it has been a really long time since I have put up some pictures, but I finally got the pictures off of the camera! (Woohoo!) Doug and I are now safely in Midland, Texas.. after a bit of an adventure getting here. We are happy and healthy, though! I will explain the pictures as I go..

We went to the Central Park Zoo in NYC. Apparently some of the pictures are a tad out of order.. just hang in there with me :)

This Polar Bear was swimming and floating back and forth the entire time we watched him. I have another picture where you can see my face better, but you can see the bear better in this one. He was so fun to watch!

Doug was so excited to see where the Dave Letterman show was filmed! Little did we know we would get free tickets to be in the audience a few days later.

Doug and I went to Lighthouse Point Park a couple days before the 4th of July.

We decided to take one last walk around Yale's campus before we left.

Apparently its good luck to rub this guy's left foot. He was a President of Yale at one point, and whenever he would kick off the rowing team with his left foot they would win.

The first U.S. spy. He was really horrible at it and ended up getting caught. But hey, at least he was the first!

I had always been intrigued by this little place, it looked so pretty. So we went in. Haha.

Whew! I hope you all enjoyed seeing a little glimpse of our time in New Haven. Believe it or not there are more pictures to come from when we went to Boston, and on our way to Midland! As of now we are doing really well. Doug is working hard and I couldn't be more proud to be his wife. We love and miss all of our family and friends!
