I'm not sure why, but the last few days I have been thinking about a lady I miss seeing in while we lived in New Haven, Connecticut. Her name is Annette and she has been deemed 'the flower lady' by those who know who she is. First of all, you have to understand that New Haven is a city where you walk or ride your bike a lot. Yes, you can drive, but with so many one-ways and small roads, it's not always practical for closer things.
Annette sells carnations wrapped in paper for $1. She is always kind no matter if you choose to get one or not. Doug introduced me to her after he brought me home a flower one day. She started recognizing us and would often give me a free flower. She would always say to Doug, "You keep princess smiling" or "You make sure she has a smile on her face." She personally had very little, yet didn't let that make her bitter. I look up to people like that. We miss seeing you around, Annette!
