Date Night

Yesterday Doug and I decided to have a well-deserved, much needed date night. We got to forget about everything else and just hang out with each other. First, we made a delicious dinner together. It was a teriyaki chicken dish. Yum. Then we went out for dessert at The Bluebird here in Logan. We both got banana splits! It was a lot of fun to just sit and talk and enjoy our dessert. When we were about done we took some pictures of us, I love them! After we got ourselves home, we played Egyptian ratscrew. This is the card game that we played on our first date. It was such a blast! By the end we were both so tired that we were laughing at everything. I couldn't ask for a better life.

Ouchy...

So, one fine day after Christmas Doug and I decided to go sledding down the infamous Old Main Hill in Logan. We went with Kevin, Nick, and Sher. We were all having a really fun time, but we decided that the boys only would do a last run - racing, of course. So off those three went and next thing I knew Doug was laying in the street at the bottom. Sher and I looked at each other like "Uh oh, Doug really hurt himself." So she and I ran down to the bottom where Doug informed me that he had heard a snap and thought he broke his ankle. So after a blessing and an ER visit we learned that he fractured the bottom of his right tibia and tore some ligaments away from the bone. And it was PAINFUL for him. What then followed was 2 weeks of complete bed rest. Now, however, he is on crutches and still has a big boot on his foot. He can't yet put any weight on it, but we are going to get more x-rays this next Wednesday. Hopefully all is healing properly.

We have learned a lot together during this little challenge of ours. I have never been more grateful for my ability to walk. We have also been able to spend a great deal of quality time together; talking, laughing, crying, snuggling. Our love continues to grow, and I love that I married such a motivated and amazing man. It has been a bit of a struggle for me to do everything plus more on my own. Doug has encouraged me and been very good at telling me how he appreciates everything I am doing. I really love being able to help him.

I Love Family

For Doug and I's first Thanksgiving, we went down to my parents house. We stayed at their house from Wednesday evening until Sunday evening; it was great! We had so many good times with them. First, on Wednesday night I introduced Doug to the movie "Elf." It's so funny! We had a good laugh. On Thanksgiving day my grandparents came up to my parents house and we had a feast! All of the food was amazing, I'm pretty sure we all gained a lot of weight. But hey, it happens :). I love being reminded of how blessed Doug and I are. We are such a happy little family of two. I personally am so grateful for my husband, Doug. He helps me so much every day in becoming a better person and a better member of the Church. If I am down, he knows exactly what to do to make me smile and laugh. Not only that, but he tells me how much he loves my smile when I do! He is an angel to me, and the best decision I ever have made or ever will make in my life. I am so excited and lucky to get to spend eternity with him.

On Friday night my family and I went to Salt Lake to watch the light on temple square come on; I love the temple square! It was so neat to see the lights pop on around us. My goodness, temple square is like a little vacation for me. I love going there are walking around. We were able to take some pictures, so here are a few...




I forgot to mention that we rode the new Front Runner down to Salt Lake, it was amazing! Its fast AND you don't have to find parking. Love it.

While we were down at my parents me, my mom, and my sister made a couple trips to Michael's. I love doing crafts, they are so stress relieving and fun for me. With the help of my mom I made a wreath for my front door! It's beautiful. I also painted a Christmas decoration for our home; I still don't know where to put it...

Doug and I are both done with the semester this week! We are so excited to actually have a BREAK with each other. We haven't had one longer than a few days since we've been married. Needless to say, we need it! Plus its the Christmas season, so it makes it that much better. I love him and I am excited to celebrate with him!

A Little Too Much Egg Nog...?

So... I happen to absolutely love the Elf Yourself videos. I make one around every holiday and I try to send it to my family. Doug will know that something is up because he'll hear me giggling from the other room.. then I won't let him look at my computer screen. I then say something sneeky like "I promise I will show you later" (with a huge grin). I hope that you guys will enjoy this as much as Doug and I did. This is me, Doug, my mom, and my little sister after we enjoyed a little.. too.. much.. eggnog..

Hooray! Our 1st Post..

Hello! This is Doug and I's first official post on our very own blog. We thought this would be a great idea so that we can share pictures, videos, and stories with our families and friends. We have been happily married for just over five months and we finally have a clean apartment! No more boxes piled up.. leering at us from across the room. Needless to say we are quite happy and now love being in our apartment.

For our first post we want to share a video with everyone! For Ed's birthday, everyone is to write a poem to him. After thinking about it for a minute, Doug suggested maybe we should do some sort of a rap for him. So this morning we found an instrumental version to the song "Whatever you like" by T.I. and wrote our very own lyrics. We entitled it "Papa you can do whatever you like." We thoroughly enjoyed everyone's poems tonight, and were quite impressed with how creative everyone is. Now we would like to share our movie of our rap...
