All Because of a Picture

Since it has been quite a while since I have updated our blog, we have some things to catch up on! The biggest thing that has happened in our lives is an addition to the family... an adorable kitten. Doug and I went out to the Cache Humane Society a couple times and the kittens just melted our hearts! I love cats. I grew up with them and they have been some of the best companions. Yes, they can be crazy at times, but that makes it even more entertaining. 

We ended up naming our kitten Puma. I think Doug's goal is to make him just as fast and agile as an actual Puma. Ha ha. When we got him he was only about 12 weeks old. He is growing up quick and we love him! (Especially when he decides to calm down and cuddle with us!) Here are a few pictures:

Other than Puma, here are some other updates from Doug and I's lives!

• We have started school again for the year. It is going to be a busy one! I am going to love my internship. We will both have plenty of homework!
• Doug gets to go to Washington DC and Albuquerque!
• I get to get my wisdom teeth out... not too stoked about that one. 
• The weather is changing! I love the crisp air that has been here the last couple of nights. Fall is my favorite season. I get so giddy thinking about it... can't wait for this...

-- 1 Year of Marriage Bliss --

Last Thursday, on June 10, 2010 Doug and I celebrated our 1 Year Anniversary! What a marvelous year it has been; easily the best in my life. I have learned so much about Love, Life, and the Gospel. I have learned what pure and true happiness with another person feels like. We have had so many life-altering experiences together already! Something that I find absolutely amazing is that if you let it, Love can grow all the time. I have times when I will be so sure that there is no way possible I could love Doug more... then the next thing I know it has grown again. It excites me for the future when we are old and have children and grand-children; I can only imagine that I won't be able to contain myself because of the Love that I feel and the Love that is within my heart! I truly look up to Doug as my husband and the Priesthood leader in our home. I am always quietly watching and learning from his example. (Not to say that I am always quiet, thats certainly not true! :)) I am proud to be his wife and I look forward to what our 2nd year in marriage will bring!

To celebrate our anniversary Doug and I went up to Snowbird Ski Resort and spent a day/night there. (Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!) It was AMAZING! We had such a good and relaxing time. We rode the tram, went to the indoor hot tub for adults only, ate at a delicious restaurant called "The Wildflower," and fed the beautiful blue jays lots of peanuts. We love the mountains. That scenery and mountain air is just what we needed to rejuvenate. We loved spending all of our time together without worry. The next day we were able to eat lunch with my wonderful Grandparents, make a trip with them to Barnes and Noble for Doug to pick out some books, and visit my family. What a wonderful weekend! Surprise!

Doug and I have moved back to Logan! He was doing really well selling but we had a strong impression that we needed to be back in Logan. Talk about a giant leap of faith. It is easily the hardest decision Doug and I have had to make together. We do love being back and we feel at peace. We love it here. Now it's moving forward and figuring out why we need to be back. I love being married to my best bud.

I Love Conference Talks!

Today while I had a little bit of "down time" at work I decided I would do my daily scripture study by reading a talk from this last Conference. As I scrolled through I saw a talk called "The Blessing of Scripture" by D. Todd Christofferson. Doug and I weren't able to watch the Saturday session, so this was perfect! This talk is AMAZING. Really. It gave me a whole new thought process on scripture study. As I was reading it the same thing kept going through my head, "These 'small' things that we say are so important aren't small at all. These small things (like scriptures and prayer every day) have the biggest impact on where my family and I end up. They are the fundamentals, and without them we are not as strong as we could be against Satan. They keep our spirits edified and uplifted!" I was completely inspired and found a new resolution to be better than I have been at studying and studying "deliberately" like President Christofferson says.

I love the Church. It brings so much love and joy into our home.

Never A Dull Moment

Something I have realized while being married is that with Doug and I together there is NEVER a dull moment. Just recently we learned we won't be starting out the summer in San Antonio or Lubbock; we will now be starting in El Paso. Crazy! I really hope my brain can catch up with the changes that go on in our lives. Not only are finals just around the corner, but we are also moving so soon! We have to finish school with good grades, pack, say bye to family for the summer, and leave in 2 weeks. Wish us luck! (If any of you happen to call in the next 2 weeks, don't take it personally if we don't get back to you right away!) 

Since I last posted, here are some things we have done (and other news):

• We went to San Antonio for Spring Break! Doug sold with some members of his team, and I just hung out in the hotel. Doug did awesome! That week was a great answer to our prayers. While there, we went to Six Flags as a team! Doug and I had a ton of fun; it brought back great memories from our Honeymoon trip there! We love riding the roller coasters together. 
• I found out where I will be doing my practicum for my senior year next year. I will be at the Up to 3 program at Utah State! I am very excited. I will be working with children ages 0-3 who have developmental challenges. I love kids. Just ask Doug :) 
• My brother Spencer decided he wanted to come out with our APX team and give selling alarm systems a try! I am excited for him to take this opportunity, a lot of great life lessons can be learned while selling. He will do awesome. 
• I went to my friend Lindsey's bridal shower. It was so good to see her and other friends again, it's been awhile! She will make such a beautiful bride and wife. I get so so so excited for my friends when they decide to get married in the temple. I have such a strong testimony of the blessing that come from getting sealed in the temple. Pure and true happiness come when we are worthy to serve in the temple. Yay for Lindsey and Justin Sodja!
• I have had the chance to stop in at my family's house a few times. I love going there and seeing the fam! I love them all so much, and there is just something peaceful about visiting home.  
• Doug and I got to go to his cousin Jacky's sealing in the Salt Lake temple. I love going to sealings. (For the same reasons I explained earlier) Since it was in the Salt Lake temple, Doug and I got to walk by (and maybe sneak in and steal a kiss) in the room we got married in. Made me tear up. Getting married to Doug was the best decision of my life, and the happiest day. I love Doug so much, he is such a wonderful man and husband. He is always striving to be better and is such a big example and inspiration to me. After Jacky's wedding dinner that night, we went over to the Planetarium where we got engaged... it was so fun! We love going there and playing around. We are both passionate about science and astronomy. I love space. Love it!

Well, that is everything I can think of for now. Now can you see a little bit how busy our lives are? We love it though (most of the time). We are so grateful to be members of the LDS church and to know of it's truth. Our love continues to grow, day by day, as we become less selfish and take care of one another over ourselves. It's a good life! Bring on the craziness! :)
