Surprise!

Doug and I have moved back to Logan! He was doing really well selling but we had a strong impression that we needed to be back in Logan. Talk about a giant leap of faith. It is easily the hardest decision Doug and I have had to make together. We do love being back and we feel at peace. We love it here. Now it's moving forward and figuring out why we need to be back. I love being married to my best bud.

I Love Conference Talks!

Today while I had a little bit of "down time" at work I decided I would do my daily scripture study by reading a talk from this last Conference. As I scrolled through I saw a talk called "The Blessing of Scripture" by D. Todd Christofferson. Doug and I weren't able to watch the Saturday session, so this was perfect! This talk is AMAZING. Really. It gave me a whole new thought process on scripture study. As I was reading it the same thing kept going through my head, "These 'small' things that we say are so important aren't small at all. These small things (like scriptures and prayer every day) have the biggest impact on where my family and I end up. They are the fundamentals, and without them we are not as strong as we could be against Satan. They keep our spirits edified and uplifted!" I was completely inspired and found a new resolution to be better than I have been at studying and studying "deliberately" like President Christofferson says.

I love the Church. It brings so much love and joy into our home.

Never A Dull Moment

Something I have realized while being married is that with Doug and I together there is NEVER a dull moment. Just recently we learned we won't be starting out the summer in San Antonio or Lubbock; we will now be starting in El Paso. Crazy! I really hope my brain can catch up with the changes that go on in our lives. Not only are finals just around the corner, but we are also moving so soon! We have to finish school with good grades, pack, say bye to family for the summer, and leave in 2 weeks. Wish us luck! (If any of you happen to call in the next 2 weeks, don't take it personally if we don't get back to you right away!) 

Since I last posted, here are some things we have done (and other news):

• We went to San Antonio for Spring Break! Doug sold with some members of his team, and I just hung out in the hotel. Doug did awesome! That week was a great answer to our prayers. While there, we went to Six Flags as a team! Doug and I had a ton of fun; it brought back great memories from our Honeymoon trip there! We love riding the roller coasters together. 
• I found out where I will be doing my practicum for my senior year next year. I will be at the Up to 3 program at Utah State! I am very excited. I will be working with children ages 0-3 who have developmental challenges. I love kids. Just ask Doug :) 
• My brother Spencer decided he wanted to come out with our APX team and give selling alarm systems a try! I am excited for him to take this opportunity, a lot of great life lessons can be learned while selling. He will do awesome. 
• I went to my friend Lindsey's bridal shower. It was so good to see her and other friends again, it's been awhile! She will make such a beautiful bride and wife. I get so so so excited for my friends when they decide to get married in the temple. I have such a strong testimony of the blessing that come from getting sealed in the temple. Pure and true happiness come when we are worthy to serve in the temple. Yay for Lindsey and Justin Sodja!
• I have had the chance to stop in at my family's house a few times. I love going there and seeing the fam! I love them all so much, and there is just something peaceful about visiting home.  
• Doug and I got to go to his cousin Jacky's sealing in the Salt Lake temple. I love going to sealings. (For the same reasons I explained earlier) Since it was in the Salt Lake temple, Doug and I got to walk by (and maybe sneak in and steal a kiss) in the room we got married in. Made me tear up. Getting married to Doug was the best decision of my life, and the happiest day. I love Doug so much, he is such a wonderful man and husband. He is always striving to be better and is such a big example and inspiration to me. After Jacky's wedding dinner that night, we went over to the Planetarium where we got engaged... it was so fun! We love going there and playing around. We are both passionate about science and astronomy. I love space. Love it!

Well, that is everything I can think of for now. Now can you see a little bit how busy our lives are? We love it though (most of the time). We are so grateful to be members of the LDS church and to know of it's truth. Our love continues to grow, day by day, as we become less selfish and take care of one another over ourselves. It's a good life! Bring on the craziness! :)

Don't Mess With Texas

As some of you already know, Doug works for APX Alarm selling security systems. It is an amazing product and APX is a top-notch company to work for. Well, last summer (the day after we were married, if fact) Doug and I moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to join Doug's selling team there. We both learned a lot living there by the bay. Now, as summertime is rolling around VERY quickly I thought I would tell everyone where we will be selling this summer... San Antonio, Texas! Man, Texas just can't get enough of us. However, we have just recently heard that we may be spending most of our time up in Lubbock, Texas. We better start preparing for the absolutely STRICT cops in Texas. Doug got pulled over last summer for going 2 miles over the speed limit... ummm... I am not a fan of the cops' attitudes in Texas. 

Texas is like a whole new world. Truly only those who have been there for a good amount of time can understand what I am talking about. I have never, ever seen people who are so proud to live in their state. Seriously, I saw Ford F150 "Texas Editions" driving around all the time. They had a nice little shiny silver Texas state logo on the back. Really, I can't think of any other state that Ford would make a special edition for. And yes, its true, things really are bigger in Texas. Portions of food, trucks, cats (it's true, the biggest cat i have ever seen in my life was last summer in Texas)... etc. Doug and I even received "Texan" cards from his aunt stating that we can say we are Texans. They really are great. 

We are really excited to have a good summer and work hard. Let's hope Texas is ready for us! 

 
P.S. Just a little "thought you might be interested" fact: Don't Mess With Texas is the highway patrol campaign for wearing seatbelts in Texas. Kind of like "Click it or ticket" here. The signs are all over.

Valentine's Day

One of the many things that I love about Doug is that he is really good at coming up with fun ideas. This year, on the morning of Valentine's Doug came to me and said "Whitney, I have an idea. Tonight... we can cut hearts and other shapes out of JELLO!" So away he went to make some jello to put in the fridge during church. After dinner we pulled it out, and away we went! It was a lot of fun, and a whole lot harder than we thought it would be. We took a video and a few pictures. The new editor here on blogger doesn't have the link to add videos yet.... so enjoy the pics! After that jello adventure we turned off everything that had light on it in the house and we lit a bunch of candles. Then we made puppets on the wall in their light! I love goofing off with him, we are truly best friends.
