Valentine's Day

One of the many things that I love about Doug is that he is really good at coming up with fun ideas. This year, on the morning of Valentine's Doug came to me and said "Whitney, I have an idea. Tonight... we can cut hearts and other shapes out of JELLO!" So away he went to make some jello to put in the fridge during church. After dinner we pulled it out, and away we went! It was a lot of fun, and a whole lot harder than we thought it would be. We took a video and a few pictures. The new editor here on blogger doesn't have the link to add videos yet.... so enjoy the pics! After that jello adventure we turned off everything that had light on it in the house and we lit a bunch of candles. Then we made puppets on the wall in their light! I love goofing off with him, we are truly best friends.

Prince Doug

I'm not sure if everyone is aware of this, but I am married to a prince. Literally. He treats me like a princess. Just to prove this fact, let me share what happened today: For the last couple weeks I have been feeling pretty ill off and on, but yesterday was pretty bad. I was overly tired and didn't feel well in really any regard. I then had to stay up pretty late doing an assignment because there were some other things that just had to come first. All important. So Doug went to bed and I didn't join him until about one o'clock in the morning. Needless to say I wasn't excited to wake up at six thirty to make sure we had Doug ready and up to campus for his seven thirty class. I simply didn't know how I was going to make it. However I realized life is life and I am so happy that I am here to help Doug. I wouldn't choose it any other way. So off to sleep I went. WELL... come morning I remember Doug moving around a little bit and such, but didn't think much of it. Next thing I know Doug kissed my forehead and gave me a hug and told me it was about eight forty. WHAT?! Doug had taken my phone, turned off its alarm, and let me sleep in. What an amazing husband. He told me that he emailed his teacher and explained that his wife hadn't been feeling well and really needed to get some rest this morning. I cannot tell you how much this meant to me. I was (and quite frankly still am) blown away at his care for me. Doug just laid back down in bed and let me fall back to sleep in his arms. Heaven. My body was ever so grateful for the rest and love that it felt this morning.

Now I think you may all agree that I am married to a prince.

Date Night

Yesterday Doug and I decided to have a well-deserved, much needed date night. We got to forget about everything else and just hang out with each other. First, we made a delicious dinner together. It was a teriyaki chicken dish. Yum. Then we went out for dessert at The Bluebird here in Logan. We both got banana splits! It was a lot of fun to just sit and talk and enjoy our dessert. When we were about done we took some pictures of us, I love them! After we got ourselves home, we played Egyptian ratscrew. This is the card game that we played on our first date. It was such a blast! By the end we were both so tired that we were laughing at everything. I couldn't ask for a better life.

Ouchy...

So, one fine day after Christmas Doug and I decided to go sledding down the infamous Old Main Hill in Logan. We went with Kevin, Nick, and Sher. We were all having a really fun time, but we decided that the boys only would do a last run - racing, of course. So off those three went and next thing I knew Doug was laying in the street at the bottom. Sher and I looked at each other like "Uh oh, Doug really hurt himself." So she and I ran down to the bottom where Doug informed me that he had heard a snap and thought he broke his ankle. So after a blessing and an ER visit we learned that he fractured the bottom of his right tibia and tore some ligaments away from the bone. And it was PAINFUL for him. What then followed was 2 weeks of complete bed rest. Now, however, he is on crutches and still has a big boot on his foot. He can't yet put any weight on it, but we are going to get more x-rays this next Wednesday. Hopefully all is healing properly.

We have learned a lot together during this little challenge of ours. I have never been more grateful for my ability to walk. We have also been able to spend a great deal of quality time together; talking, laughing, crying, snuggling. Our love continues to grow, and I love that I married such a motivated and amazing man. It has been a bit of a struggle for me to do everything plus more on my own. Doug has encouraged me and been very good at telling me how he appreciates everything I am doing. I really love being able to help him.

I Love Family

For Doug and I's first Thanksgiving, we went down to my parents house. We stayed at their house from Wednesday evening until Sunday evening; it was great! We had so many good times with them. First, on Wednesday night I introduced Doug to the movie "Elf." It's so funny! We had a good laugh. On Thanksgiving day my grandparents came up to my parents house and we had a feast! All of the food was amazing, I'm pretty sure we all gained a lot of weight. But hey, it happens :). I love being reminded of how blessed Doug and I are. We are such a happy little family of two. I personally am so grateful for my husband, Doug. He helps me so much every day in becoming a better person and a better member of the Church. If I am down, he knows exactly what to do to make me smile and laugh. Not only that, but he tells me how much he loves my smile when I do! He is an angel to me, and the best decision I ever have made or ever will make in my life. I am so excited and lucky to get to spend eternity with him.

On Friday night my family and I went to Salt Lake to watch the light on temple square come on; I love the temple square! It was so neat to see the lights pop on around us. My goodness, temple square is like a little vacation for me. I love going there are walking around. We were able to take some pictures, so here are a few...




I forgot to mention that we rode the new Front Runner down to Salt Lake, it was amazing! Its fast AND you don't have to find parking. Love it.

While we were down at my parents me, my mom, and my sister made a couple trips to Michael's. I love doing crafts, they are so stress relieving and fun for me. With the help of my mom I made a wreath for my front door! It's beautiful. I also painted a Christmas decoration for our home; I still don't know where to put it...

Doug and I are both done with the semester this week! We are so excited to actually have a BREAK with each other. We haven't had one longer than a few days since we've been married. Needless to say, we need it! Plus its the Christmas season, so it makes it that much better. I love him and I am excited to celebrate with him!
